NIYS Honor Band
Our Wind and Percussion Programs
We are proud to announce our inaugural 2026 North Idaho Youth Symphony Honor Band! In order to foster growth in the greater Coeur d'Alene area, NIYS and Maestro Jon Madrid have established an ensemble to develop our talented young wind and percussion players. The Honor Band bolsters our newly established NIYS Symphonic Band for the 2026-2027 season.
NIYS Honor Band General Description
Honor Band is a 3-rehearsal and single concert format done within about a month. Honor Band provides an opportunity for students who have not played in a upper level band setting. Students must have an advanced level of proficiency on their instrument and have an invitation by their band director. Homeschool students must be recommended by a local band director. The NIYS Honor Band gives the advanced student an opportunity to rehearse and perform with similarly motivated and talented young musicians.

Fee for participation is $20 for invited students. Financial aid is available upon request. Financial aid requests must be made via e-mail before the first rehearsal, April 23, 2026. Please register and an invoice will be sent. Space is limited.
REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED BY APRIL 16, 2026

Music will be distributed at the first rehearsal. Rehearsals at Lakes Middle School will be in the band room Thursdays, April 23, 30, and May 7, 2026. The dress rehearsal and concert will be Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Coeur d’Alene High School. The dress rehearsal (and group photo) is at 4pm-5:30pm. The concert will be at 6pm.
